Bema'aglei Tzedek spearheads a wide variety of awareness-generating initiatives on both a local and national level. These include:

  • Large-scale conferences tied to specific dates in the Jewish calendar, such as the 17th of Tammuz and the 10th of Tevet fast days, which explore various issues in Israeli society. Each of these conferences are frequented by well over a thousand people – religious, secular, young and old alike – who attend lectures, panels and interactive sessions led by Israeli intellectuals, academics, and Jewish educators.

  • The publication of a journal that deals with Jewish thought, philosophy and social justice. The journals, which are distributed in yeshivas and universities in addition to 200 private subscribers, are intended to address the vacuum in Jewish thought in the field of state-mandated, socio-economic policy. Fifteen issues have been published thus far covering various subjects such as human trafficking, the treatment of the elderly, gaps in education, and the pitfalls of privatization.

In addition, Bema'aglei Tzedek reaches thousands of young Israelis, secular and religious, through educational programs that incorporate Jewish text study, an in-depth understanding of current socioeconomic issues in Israeli society, and practical social action; thereby, empowering the next generation of young Israelis to engage their Jewish identity and become powerful agents of social change.  These programs are run by a cadre of 50, university-age, professionally-trained educators.

Bema'aglei Tzedek also runs a "Social Justice Beit Midrash," in partnership with Beit Morasha, which brings together 50 fellows – some of whom possess a rich background in Jewish studies and others of whom have extensive experience in social justice work – for six hours every other week to study a wide range of contemporary issues from the vantage point of Jewish tradition. Each fellow is responsible for producing a final research paper / initiating a social justice project.
